Study Launch: “A New Vision for the Global Trade Order” – 21 November 2024
A groundbreaking study challenging the current global trade paradigm is set to be unveiled on 21 November 2024. The working paper, titled “A New Vision for the EU’s Global Trade Strategy: Ethical World Trade and Economy for the Common Good”, proposes a fresh alternative to address the unprecedented ecological and social crises facing our world today.
As economic geopolitics and protectionism gain momentum, the authors question whether these are suitable responses to the challenges at hand. The study, authored by Christian Felber, Prof. Brigitta Herrmann, and Jürgen Knirsch, in cooperation with EEB, WEAll and WFTO, offers an innovative approach that aligns more closely with the European Union’s fundamental values while tackling the injustices inherent in the current trade model.
The launch event, to be held at the CBS International Business School, will feature presentations by the authors and a panel discussion with expert speakers, including:
- Prof. Brigitta Herrmann, Professor of Globalisation, Development Policies and Ethics at CBS International Business School
- Christian Felber, initiator of the Economy for the Common Good and co-author of the study
- Leida Rijnhout, Chief Executive of the World Fair Trade Organization
- MEP Saskia Bricmont from the Greens/EFA group
The hybrid event will conclude with a Q&A session and a lunch reception, providing attendees with the opportunity to engage directly with the authors and speakers.
