Our ruling economic system has been designed in ways that challenges women on daily basis. The cost of invisible care, the access to education, the food insecurity, and so many other data prove how important it is to reimagine an economy through a gender perspective. According to the United Nations, the climate crisis, created by this economic system, can push almost 160 million women and girls to extreme poverty by 2050. Closing the gender gap can not happen by sustaining the same system, it will change by promoting new economic alternatives that protect the common good. Join Adriana Franco, Celestina Abalos and Magdalena Rodríguez for the next ECOnGOOD Conversation on gender and economy, which will bring different inputs on how economic empowerment affects society and help raise awareness to care centered approaches.
Adriana Franco is member of the Latin American Observatory of Geopolitics (OALG) at the Institute of Economic Research, UNAM. She is a lecturer at the School of Political and Social Sciences, and member of the University Program of studies on Asia, Africa and Oceania (PUEAAO).

She joined the moment that led Argentinian State to recognize the pre-existence of indigenous people in the Argentina’s constitution and has worked in different fronts on education, environmental protection, and culture guardian.
