On November 11th, Tuesday, from 6:30 to 8 pm CET, WEAll Sweden, ECOnGOOD and Färnebo Folkhögskola will host an online event on how an Economy for the Common Good can be developed in Sweden. The webinar will focus on how the way businesses are ran in Sweden can shape the economy to support the Common Good.
Sweden has examples of companies and cooperatives that have already applied ECOnGOOD tools to their work, such as the Vägen ut! kooperativen, largest franchise chain of social enterprises. The Economy for the Common Good (ECOnGOOD) is an international movement and economic model that focuses on the Common Good, and that means a better life for everyone on a healthy planet. This is the primary goal of the model founded by Austrian author and economist Christian Felber, that provides practical tools for an economy system based on human dignity, solidarity, ecological sustainability, social justice, and transparency. The movement recently celebrated 15 years of existence and since its founding in 2010, over 1.400 companies, nearly 50 municipalities and numerous educational and financial institutions have joined the vision of redefining economic success: not through maximisation, but through contributing to the common good.
The online seminar will start with an introduction from Christian Felber to concepts and examples of how the Economy for the Common Good is being put into practice around the world. Vägen ut! kooperativen, a Swedish cooperative, will share how ECOnGOOD tools influenced their business model. Finally, there will time for Q&A moment, where we participants are welcome to ask questions and to reflect on how the Economy for the Common Good can take shape in Sweden and other territories.
Planetary and social boundaries are fundamental aspects of the change we need in current systems to move beyond GDP. Join and explore how an alternative economic model can support communities in building and contributing to the wellbeing.
