“The world to make” was the main theme of TEDx Domodossola 2026, where Marta Avesani, President of the Italian ECOnGOOD association, lectured on how we should cultivate a sense of possibility within different ways to live economy, relationships and daily choices not only as organizations, but also as citizens.

Part of the transformation to a new economic systems comes from imagining, innovating, planning, narrating, and mending what is broken. “We live in an era where everything seems already said, thought, and built. Yet, more than ever, the world still remains to be made”, says Avesani. The President of the Italian ECOnGOOD association sees this scenario as an invitation to look forward with responsibility and courage to build bridges, communities and opportunities.

During the event, she felt that the audience was inspired and interested about the ECOnGOOD movement and how it has been applied in Italy. Throughout the session, Marta expressed that being open about type of world we desire to live in is beyond simplistic labels of being naive or idealistic, because future is being imagined regardless of that. “Although it seems like the colonisation of space is coming back into fashion today, another, much more subtle and unconscious type of colonisation threatens us all: the colonisation of futures. Colonising the future means making a single narrative of what the future will be predominant”, alerts Avesani. She believes that this creates a collective effect where we tend to think there is a single model, a single future already determined, but that the ECOnGOOD tools, such as the Matrix and the levels of evaluation, can present a transformational path to re-pluralise the future, and, as proposed by Marta, re-pluralise the future and re-awake our sense of possibility as businesses and citizens.

“I’m inspired by the bold themes and challenging questions expressed in the ECOnGOOD matrix, and by a clear transformative process that makes it possible to move from denial to ambassadorship, through openness to possibility, experimentation, and consolidation. All of this is very human and real”, shares Avesani.
