ECOnGOOD international and the Science & Research Hub seeks interested institutions to host the fifth edition of ECGIC in Spring 2028. This call for hosts is open to all academic and research institutions globally, regardless of their prior involvement with the ECOnGOOD movement. Applications from Global South institutions are strongly encouraged to ensure diverse perspectives and representation.
The Economy for the Common Good International Conference (ECGIC) is an important gathering in the field of alternative economic systems. It fosters not only the academic discourse on the Economy for the Common Good (ECG) model, but also promotes inspiration between similar approaches, civil society, academic scholars, and private and public sectors. Dialogue and collaboration are core principles of the event that already took place in Bremen (2019), Valencia (2022), and Leeuwarden (2024), and Amberg-Weiden (2026), each contributing significantly to the advancement of the ECG theory.
Potential hosts are invited to submit their declarations of interest by December 17th of 2026. The application should include details such as a description of the institution, proposed conference theme, potential keynote speakers, logistics information, and strategies for inclusivity. The ECOnGOOD communications and science & research teams will provide support in various aspects, including access to their science community, content organisation, and international local chapters.
Hosting the V ECGIC offers the opportunity to drive regional impact by connecting to local businesses, municipalities, and civil society through dedicated tracks and “practitioners’day”. The event can help position universities as a pioneering hub for sustainable economics, fostering dialogues between ECG, Doughnut Economics, Post-Growth, and Social Economy models. This call for hosts represents a key opportunity to advance the global movement for economic transformation, sustainability, and social responsibility.
